ABOUT
My name is Kelsey
I am a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and event creator based in Pennsylvania.
Artist Statement:
My art explores the interconnectedness between humanity and the natural and ethereal worlds, a relationship that has been a source of immense healing in my own life and which deeply influences my creative process. I am drawn to the symbolism and wisdom inherent in plants and animals, drawing from them the quiet ancient power of the earth.
In my paintings, I strive to capture the life force and spirit of animals, humans, and nature, incorporating materials like wood and animal skins as a collaboration with Mother Nature. The textures and patterns in these materials create a visual meditation on the beauty and resilience of the earth and its inhabitants, an acknowledgement of the interconnectedness of all living things.
My drawings delve into the unseen energies and dimensions that surround us. Swirling India ink designs and vibrant colored pencil hues evoke a recognition of the interwoven seen and unseen worlds and the subtle energies that shape our experiences.
The message I communicate through my scanner art is to be present and curious about the intricate details found in nature—the delicate veins of a leaf, the intricate patterns of an insect’s wing, the rough texture of bark beneath my fingertips. I find joy in collecting small wonders from nature and many little treasures have nuzzled their way into my art.
Ultimately, my creative process is a collaboration with nature and the psyche, a way to tap into their healing power and bring light and shadows into balance. I believe that the best way to share this magic with others is while chatting around a bonfire after a summer swim or running barefoot in the rain.
